What You Will Learn

For decades European facilities, faced with higher land and labor casts and different order profiles, have seen more attractive business cases to bring automation in their facilities. Additionally how they have weighed certain qualitative aspects has differed from those in North America. Now, given pressure on headcounts, increasing land constraints, and need for more case and each picking, North American facilities are seeing the traditional barriers to automation starting to fall. During this session it will be addressed how the landscape has evolved in North America and what are the key aspects to address in the business case quantitatively and qualitatively. This talk will look past typical analysis points such as CapEx and OpEx and dive deeper into how to develop a thorough and holistic assessment if the automation you are seeing on the show floor, may make sense for your operation.

Key Takeaways

-What have been the traditional barriers to automation in the USA?
-How have Europeans been able to justify advanced levels of automation for so long?
-What should be included in my analysis and business case when addressing automation?
